Advantages of selling Pedigree Livestock Online

Advantages of selling Pedigree Livestock Online

Denis Barrett Auctions has nearly 30 years’ experience selling livestock on farm and over 10 years selling online. If you’re thinking of selling your pedigree livestock online then reading on will help you decide whether its right for you.

Do you have small numbers to sell?

If you have 1-20 animals to sell online only is ideal as your costs are minimised and you can still create a sales event around your stock.

Would your stock benefit from individual marketing?

Maybe you have some animals with unique breeding that you feel sets them apart, online allows you to market each individual animal to a large audience nationally and internationally.

Are you far from a sales centre/mart?

Transport costs are a growing issue, selling online directly off the farm removes this cost to the seller. Selling directly off farm also attracts a different buyer who is cautious of the potential disease contamination at marts.

Are you concerned about the labour involved in an on farm live sale?

Selling online removes the need to make your yard ready for a live sale, which can be costly when selling small numbers. Online allows you to access all the benefits of an on-farm sale without the hassle.

What costs are involved with selling online?

A small admin fee dependant on the number of animals and the cost of any additional services such as photos/videos/clipping that you choose to add to your package. You will also set your own marketing budget to include any print media you require; all social media promotion/advert creation is inclusive in your admin fee.

🔥🔥🔥Another Auction Done Right🔥🔥🔥

Clonteens Dispersal – 300 pedigree registered animals met with strong demand.

Congratulations to Jerome & Jenny O’ Sullivan and the team at Clonteens Holsteins on a headline success dispersal auction.

310 animals were catalogued with 305 going under the hammer, with 1st & 2nd calvers averaging €2,050 ( including incalf & open). The remainder of the cows (from 3rd – 12th calvers including incalf & open) averaged €1,400, Incalf heifers averaged €2,120 and weanlings averaging €813. There was a 91% clearance with most of the unsold animals being animals that had injuries etc.

With the constraints of a working yard where the ring had to be erected in the morning and removed post auction to allow for evening feeding/milking. The logistics of this auction were a challenge but I’m incredibly proud of the result.

The sale was a true reflection of the animals on offer. We would like to thank and congratulate all the purchasers on their super investment.

I would like to thank Paul Murphy, Brendan Greenan and my own team at Denis Barrett Auctions, Katherine Raines, Joe Lyons, Eamon Phelan, Tina Mullane, JJ O’Connor, Trevor & Susie.

On a personal note, I would like to thank Jerome & Jenny for entrusting me with the dispersal of their herd and wish them the very best of luck in their future plans.
